"It's The Real Thing – Basel Documentary Platform 13" dealt with the reality we construct, invent, live, document and perform in our everyday lives. The platform presented selected works by She She She Pop, Rabih Mroué, Jérôme Bel, Milo Rau and others. The festival reflected on the notion of reality and identity questioning its "realness" or authenticity.
The performances were framed by a symposium. Among the lecturers were Dirk Baecker, Fritz Simon and Gregor Gysi.
